Went to the house last week to check out progress and have a meeting with João, the builder and Eduardo, my building manager. I was delighted to see activity on the site and two men clearing away some of the demolition rubble and preparing the Miller's house for the erection of the first concrete 'placa' or slab which will be the first floor in the old Miller's house.
Not such good news from João as he needs the electricity to be supplied, and without it he can't carry on beyond the middle of July. He's concerned that if he uses a generator it might get stolen, which I entirely understand, so we have to find a way round this problem.
I'm waiting to hear from EDP - the Portuguese national electricity supplier - but with summer already here this may take longer than a few weeks....
